Character Information

Name: Lucas Parker (Romaji: Ruukasu Paakaa)
Aliases:

The Gladiator, Kentoushi

The Musician, Gakushi

Sparrowhawk, Haitaka

Age: Around 17-19 (Lost track of time while on the run)

Gender: Male

Grade/Class: Transfer Student, Sophomore, Class 2-1

Room Number: 6

Total Status Points: 10/10

Primary Power: Resupply
Whenever Lucas makes a clicking noise (Including but not limited to: Snapping his fingers, Clicking his tongue) he is able to summon his weapons. The individual weapons are looked at in more detail in the Weapons of Choice section.

Nerfs: Lucas can only summon two of his weapons at a time. For example, he can have his crossbow and a short sword summoned at the same time, or his trident and his scutum summoned. He cannot have three out at the same time, such as having a short sword, scutum, and crossbow out. Where the weapons are before being summoned and after being dismissed is not even known to Lucas, although he speculates that the weapons go to an alternate space where they are mended and sharpened. When his weapons are no longer needed, Lucas throws them off to side, and after a certain amount of time elapses, about two turns, they dissolve into the air until they are summoned again.

Active Sub-Ability: Tempered Steel
If the colors of the weapons appear to change, be careful: Lucas is changing the temperature of his weapons. Although the matter of the blades retains most of all physical properties, including sharpness and hardness, the temperature changes drastically. This can go from 100℃ (212℉) to -135℃ (-212℉). The metal will turn red the hotter it gets, and whiter the colder it gets. The temperature change doesn’t affect Lucas. However, it does affect his belongings and clothing.

Passive Sub-Ability: Magic Affinity
Most of Lucas’ weapons interact with magic in a different way. They cannot be cursed or buffed (The wielder can be cursed or buffed, however) and deal with elemental spells in different ways:

The Crossbow does not interact with magic.

All other weapons besides the scutum can parry elemental magic, however, this requires precise timing by Lucas. The more powerful the attack, the less likely Lucas will be able to successfully parry elemental magic.

Secondary Power: Musician
As explained by his bio, Lucas is an extremely skilled musician. He can reasonably play virtually every instrument but specializes in brass instruments.. Within battle, this has little to no effect, unless he weaponizes the sound, which is extremely situational. He can blast music to distract the enemy, although under normal circumstances, this would alert the enemy to his location. Additionally, two phenomena occur: One, where music can barely be heard when he snaps his fingers to summon his weapons, and two, when he’s playing by himself, other parts besides the part he’s playing can be heard. This would be an in-character reason for background music to play during a fight, or for other parts to be heard in music when he’s playing alone.

Attributes: None

Weapons of Choice:
As Lucas’ power basically revolves around his weapons, prepare for a long read.

Throwing Knife
The knife looks simple: A double-edged, 7-inch blade with a guard 3-inches wide on each side and a grip made of silver. However, the blade is made of damascus steel and is extremely dangerous in the hands of it's owner. It’s weight is balanced so that it can be thrown, and the hilt can be used instead of the blade to stun or knock out the opponent rather than cut him. Lucas carries five knives at all time. Thanks to his ability, Lucas can throw one and have it return to his belt almost immediately after throwing it. This is the only weapon Lucas has that he carries on his person at all times.

The Quintet

Short Swords
Lucas’s short swords are aesthetically different, but combat-wise, are exactly the same. Both blades are about a foot and a half in length, double-edged, and made of damascus steel. The guard is approximately 5 inches in diameter, and the grip is made of silver wiring / hard ashwood. His short swords are much more powerful than his throwing knives, but lack the range and speed that his throwing knives have.

Rondo

Scutum
The Scutum is Lucas’s shield of choice: A large, rectangular two-inch thick sheet of crucible steel painted blue with Lucas’s biological family crest painted on the front. Popular with gladiators in the Roman Arena, the scutum turned the gladiator into a walking tank, deflecting arrows and projectiles while the wielder slowly advanced towards their opponent. The scutum began to decline in use with advancements in warfare technology, such as the rifle, which rendered the scutum as useful as dragging around a hunk of metal.

Lucas’s scutum is modified for the world he lives in. While not perfectly bulletproof, it can take a couple of rounds of bullets before denting and breaking. It can withstand many elemental and magic attacks, although corrosive acid renders it nearly useless. It has a glass visor so that Lucas’s field of vision isn’t blocked. Despite all the protection the scutum provides, it makes Lucas boringly slow, and also takes up a slot that Lucas could have used to summon a weapon.
Fermata

Trident
Another weapon from Lucas's biological family, the trident is made of pure tungsten covered with chrome plating and leather grips. The entire trident is 6 feet in height (taller than its owner) and the trident head is a foot wide. Offensively, the trident is limited to a stabbing motion, as slashing or cutting would be an extremely slow and clumsy motion. It can also be thrown like a javelin in a range a little less than his throwing knives, and although the trident has much more impact and power than the knives, the trident is handicapped by its barbed ends which makes it hard to remove after throwing it. Lucas tends to use the trident more defensively, like a quarterstaff, to parry and block attacks. The trident is sharp enough to puncture armor, but not kevlar.
Vibrato

Crossbow
The second of Lucas’ ranged weapons, the crossbow has the largest range of all his weapons and is the most modernized one. Made of steel string and a metal alloy with a camo pattern, the crossbow has a scope that allows Lucas to snipe his enemies from afar. The crossbow bolts are 5 inches long and are made out of tungsten carbide, a material rated 9 on the mohs scale. The weapon takes two hands to operate efficiently, and although Lucas can utilize it with one hand, his accuracy and speed drops significantly. The crossbow is used mainly to enrage and deal chip damage to the enemy until he gets into throwing knife or melee range.
[yt]LAIS-ADK6c8[/yt]

Lucas’s mother was a French cabaret singer in Europe, known for her incredible tone quality and volume. Her stage name was the Songbird, or L’Oiseau Chanteur. His father was Chinese, a soldier of fortune, who came from a long line of mercenaries who fought in conflicts starting from the Boxer Rebellion. His father was often hired to protect cargo ships from Somalian pirates after crossing the Suez Canal. His knowledge of tactics and his extremely high success rate gained him the nickname of “Old Wolf” within the mercenary world. The two met, had a one night stand, and the product was an unnamed, unborn, illegitimate child.

The father soon left France for the life of a mercenary again, leaving many to speculate who the child’s father was. The Songbird was scorned within the music community after the news of the b*stard child broke out, and her popularity in the song charts plummeted. His mother died during childbirth, due to a mixture of disease and famine . His father died two years later, when the French Mafia, Milieu, attacked a Chinese cargo ship that the Old Wolf was guarding in the Mediterranean Sea. It was considered a tactical failure for the French Mafia, as they lost multiple ships and failed to secure the cargo, but the Old Wolf fell two weeks later to an untreated gunshot wound in the shoulder. Both father and mother never got to see their child, and, with no will, the government placed him in a foster home, with a religious foster mother, who named the b*stard child Lucas, meaning Light-Bringer.
Tactician Arc
[yt]hwDzbZcUTok[/yt]

Immediately, the boy gained attention from mercenary groups, gangs, and mafias, as the last living member of the famous mercenary family. They sent agents to track his growth and development, to see if he would become a threat or a benefit towards their individual group. The foster mother became aware of these people following the child around, and, fearing for her own life, spurned the child and called him a demon, and threw him out of her house. Little Lucas, age 5, had no idea why he had been thrown out, but had the feeling that he had done something wrong, and that God was wrathful. Two weeks later, he was found huddled in a ditch, dressed in rags, completely emaciated. Soon, the government put him with another foster parent: She, too, was loving at first, but abandoned him as soon as she became aware of the stalkers.

Every time the vicious cycle of adoption and abandonment continued, Lucas began to learn to fend for himself. At one point, he slept in a cargo bay and found five knives, which he kept for himself. He began to practice with them until he was proficient with knife throwing, killing small animals and cooking them over a fire. And then, at age 7, with a mindset that God was cursing his every move, he ran away from Poland, knives rattling on his makeshift wire belt, heading to the west.

The French government caught him in Bordeaux, and put him in an orphanage with 12 other children. The English matron there treated him like a child of her own, and loved him unconditionally, despite noticing the shady figures constantly following him around. In the modest library that the orphanage had, Lucas found a book of etymology, and picked a last name for himself: Parker. It was in this orphanage that Lucas, around age 9, began to be interested in music: He picked up a tuba and showed immediate talent with it, being able to play complex 16th and triplet rhythms after reading a couple of books on music theory. Lucas was playing the tuba at a high school level in 6 weeks and moved on to other instruments. The other children, amazed by his prowess with instruments, nicknamed him “Le Musicien,” or The Musician.
Many organized crime groups, watching Lucas’ turn to music, became disinterested and turned away. One group, the French mafia Milieu, didn’t want to take any chances and decided to kill the boy in case another group decided to recruit him. They sent two henchmen to kill the child while he slept.

The plan went horribly awry when the matron of the orphanage threw herself above the sleeping boy to protect him from the killing sword swing. Lucas, around age 10, awoke to blood staining his bedsheets, and the lifeless eyes of his maternal figure staring down at him. Lucas, in a fit of hysteria, threw two knives at the murderer, blinding him, and slit his neck, leaving him to choke on his own blood. He snatched up the bloody sword and bashed in the head of the partner before he could react. The other children awoke to hear Lucas screaming, blood splattered across his nightgown, repeatedly slashing at the head of one of the henchmen.

By the time Lucas came to his senses and realized what he had done, the police had come, called by one of the children. With the murder weapon in his hands, the police, with testimony from his former brothers and sisters, came to the only logical conclusion: Lucas was to be held accountable for the murders of two men and the matron of the orphanage.

In the cell at the local police station, Lucas began to develop a sadistic, dark personality. Police reportedly heard him muttering, ”If God curses me so much, why should I have to take it as a curse? Can I turn a curse into a blessing?” During the interrogation and confession, the boy had a twisted expression on his face, an enormous smile, eyes wide open in a ghastly shade of blue, not blinking once. He falsely confessed to killing the matron while he was in a subconscious state, and admitted to killing two men with a steel sword. The lawyer assigned to him by the government was planning to plead insanity. Was. Over the night, all policemen in the station had mysteriously vanished. It was reported in the morning by the very alarmed (and very overweight) sheriff of the station, but by that time, all records of a “Lucas Parker” appeared to have vanished.

Triad Arc
One other group besides the Milieu was still watching Lucas Parker: The Chinese Triad. This group was the most amicable with his father, and had agreed to get him out of trouble in case anything was wrong. Since his father had died working under him, the Triad leader felt a responsibility to train Lucas as a mercenary. The Triad leader, who would soon become Lucas’ paternal figure, arranged for a train to take him from Bordeaux, where he was the center of a manhunt, to his father’s family’s manor in the hilly areas of China. There, he trained under supervision of the Triad, who returned his knives and gave him the swords of the two he had killed, and added two new weapons to his arsenal, the scutum and the trident, found in the trophy room of the manor.

Lucas developed a pessimistic point of view: He believed in Dystheism, that supernatural forces did exist, but they were all evil. He believed that society was a farce, a futile attempt to keep order that would crumble back down to chaos eventually. While he, age 12, maintained a very polite and courteous manner, Triad members were disturbed by how enthusiastically Lucas shed blood. When cutting down practice dummies, he would disassemble them in the most violent way possible. The leader of the Triad knew something had snapped within Lucas that would not come back. The only time Lucas seemed to be genuinely happy was when he played music, and if he played for too long, memories of that fateful night would come back to the surface of his head. As he practiced, Triad members began to notice a certain aura around the Musician: they called it Chi, or Magic. After a couple of months of meditation, Lucas perfected the use of chi in both music and battle, using it to keep all of his weapons accessible at any point and to be able to play one-man symphonies. He could access it at any time by snapping his fingers. Blue light would appear, or at least, it looked like it did, but that was how the human eye interpreted Chi, according to the Triad members.

At around age 14, Lucas was carrying out missions for the Chinese Triad. His use of primitive weapons, both effectively and savagely, gained him the name of Jiǎo dòushì, or The Gladiator, but to those in the Triad, he was known as Sparrowhawk, a bird of prey and songbird.

Lily's Arc
At some point during his time with the Triad, Lucas was tasked with the secret assassination and disposal of a Yakuza member. He and his part of the Yakuza had been encroaching on the Triad's drug-running lines. By eliminating the leader of that section, the Triad would no longer have competition in that area.

A crossbow bolt to the back of the head was all it took to get rid of him. Disposing of the body would be harder, but manageable. Lucas dragged the body, as well as a couple kilograms of quicklime and a shovel, deep into a nearby forest. Just as he was about to dig, a twig snapped behind him.

The intruder was a dark-skinned, white-haired girl. The fact that another human being was this deep in the wilderness astounded Lucas. Nonetheless, she had seen Lucas with the body. She was now a witness, and the least that Lucas could do was kill her quickly. Summoning his sword, he rushes forward, bringing the blade up with two hands in an overhead blow-

Fire. Everything was flames, his pants, his coat, his skin and his hair- His nerves felt like they were burning, his skin felt like it was frying, his eyes felt like they were melting, and everything came together in that horrible, acrid smell- He tried to scream, but the smoke and that d*mned smell choked him, asphyxiated him- Get the flames off.

Lucas dropped to the forest ground and rolled, trying to smother the flames.
He escapes the fire alive, with several severe burns, but nothing that will cripple him for life. His muscles don't appear to be responding to him at the time, which would be useful, because the fire was no longer the main threat. The dark-skinned girl stood above him with a menacing expression that Lucas didn't think was possible. He knew that he had picked the wrong opponent to face, and that he was facing his death, so he chooses his lasts words:

”F*ck you.”

The girl's glare gets even more intense. Lucas would have gotten the signal to shut up, but the smoke and pain has made him a little delirious.

”I'd watch your tongue if you don't want me to melt your mouth shut...anyway, who are you? What's with the body?”

"My name's Lucas Par-

The tactician wrenches control of the body before the other personality can say anything else.
”Why do you want to know and why the f*ck should I tell you?"

”You attacked me out of nowhere, so if you don't want me to burn you some more, I want you to tell me what you were doing in this forest and why.”

”...Name’s Lucas. As for what I was doing, over my f*cking dead body.”

He manages to sound threatening for a half-charred kid struggling to get off the ground, at least until he makes a whimpering noise and collapses.

”You're such a pain in the *ss...We'll be in trouble if the body's buried in this forest, so put it some other place will you?”

"Wait, you kno- I mean, what do you mean, a dead body? I'm just a helpless little kid walking through the big, scary, forest..."

”You really are a pain to handle. My mentor can easily find out who you are if I report this to her, so don't play around. Get the body out of here, I can even help you with it, but the body can't stay in the forest, is that clear?”

"Christ, fine."

Lucas manages to stand up, casually dusting his pants as if he hadn't recently been almost immolated.

"Just let me get my corpse-grade quicklime, and would you happen to have a hacksaw?"

”I don't have the slightest clue of what that is, but forget it. How about I just burn the body to ashes? You don't need the body anymore, do you?”

"I- sorry, I'm just getting used to the fact that people can shoot fire out of their hands."

”Enough with the jokes, smartass, do I burn the body or not? Yes or No?”

”...Yes.”

Lucas's cold eyes watch as the girl creates a fireball in between her hands, immolating the body. No trace of the body was left except the crossbow bolt, which was glowing and radiating a pretty high temperature.

”There, now this is the only time I'll warn you, don't ever bring a body here again or I'll make sure to burn you the same way, got it?”

"Yes, ma'am."

Lucas manages a stiff bow and runs- or rather, staggers away. The mishap in the forest would fade into a distant memory, until Lucas nearly forgets about it.

Milieu Arc
[yt]nENrxSRqz78[/yt]

Milieu was constantly on guard for an attack by Lucas, and 2 years later, they got one: Lucas cut all ties with the Triad, and, accepting the parting gift of a crossbow from the leader, headed back to Bordeaux.

The Milieu was terrorized by the Gladiator, who always carried out his attacks under cover of darkness, targeting individual members: some corpses were found with their eyes gouged out, others were found disemboweled and their guts splayed across the floor, others were impaled by stakes and left hanging in the air, or pinned to the wall alive by crossbow bolts in a crude imitation of the Christian savior: These are just a few examples of the atrocities the Sparrowhawk committed in revenge. 12 months later, the remaining 7 members of the Bordeaux mafia branch committed suicide, rather than to die horribly like the rest of their comrades.

Satisfied with the revenge he had quenched, Lucas turned back to Asia, to visit the Triad once more. There, the leader had one last idea, in hopes of ending Lucas’ brokenness. He enrolled the teen in a certain high school, one that he hoped could effectively deal with Lucas’ violent tendencies and change his viewpoint of life.

Personality:
Lucas almost has bipolar disorder: His personality can be divided into Tactician's Personality, Musician’s personality and the Gladiator’s personality. These three personalities are constantly at odds with each other within Lucas' head. The dominant personality can be told by what the color of the text is that Lucas is speaking.

Tactician's Personality:
”I might not have a kickass power, like poison gas or teleportation, but I don’t need a kickass power to kick yours around.”
This is the manifestation of Lucas's very pessimistic view of society and people. He believes that people only act in their own interests. This is the most prominent personality, and it's most likely that you'll see him like this. With that, he’s become very sarcastic and bitter, but since he does understand and appreciate the benefits of having allies, he only shows it through internal monologues and thoughts. Externally, he puts up a nice front, and is occasionally over the top formal. If annoyed, he will begin showing his internal sarcasm.

Gladiator’s Personality:
”I can make the bodies disappear.”
If you encounter Lucas in this personality, run: It's the embodiment of what Lucas had to do to survive. Lucas becomes completely impassioned and silent. Internally, his mind's going in overtime, analyzing the opponent, finding counters and weakpoints, and keeping himself alive. He’s dangerous in this state, and as long as the person poses some sort of threat to his well-being, he'll kill them. Essentially, Lucas stops attempting to save anyone else and goes into a self-preservation mode in order to protect him. This personality almost always becomes dominant during battle.

Musician’s Personality:
”I really like what you did with the melody, but… Well, can I show you what I would do?”
This could be said to be Lucas’s true personality, the personality he would show had he not been scarred by his background story. When he’s in a practice session, he becomes very kind and thoughtful. His enthusiasm for music shines. Only in this personality can he be seen genuinely smiling. He begins to become emotionally attached to others, and actively tries to keep things friendly.
